Chi is a beautiful sim with lots of oriental influences around, a huge Buddha, just like the one on Lantau island in Hong Kong, I have been there in RL.. that Buddha is beautiful and huge and so impressive, but I decided to focus on the gorgeous little pagoda for these shots with two sampans moored next to it.

I wanted to experiment taking some landscape shots which I haven't done in a while.
the following photos are all taken with the 1.23 viewer as Emerald still hates my graphic card. Bring me a new computer Santa AppleMac.. I needs it.. I wants it, my precious....

Audrey, Audrey

I was watching one of Audrey Hepburn's classic movies a couple of nights ago and thought I would like to see if I could make up an outfit which would do her justice.

Let me show you what I came up with




I was very lucky to find the super cool art deco cigarette holder which is almost the exactly the same as the one Audrey is holding in her photo. That particular shop also does a nice range of fans and vintage items, very good for period photographs or burlesque.


This Dress is from DG gowns and it is an older item, but still outstandingly beautiful it also comes in a range of colour combinations, I did also purchase the olive and purple gown but my inventory ate it.. looks sad.. it might turn up one day. The variations available are a full prim skirt and these little floaty side panels which is the look I like best. As for my hair this updo is also an older style.. which I have for a while.. but looks so perfect for this look.. tumbled up and held with a ribbon, I think it screams for you to pull the bobbie pins out and let those locks tumble down.

I have had this bra and pantie set for a while, don't wear them often even though I really like the vintage look of them, the snapshot doesn't show it, but the set also comes with a pair of stockings with lace tops, however I wanted to wear my sculpty shoes and of course the two don't mix very well.


So Emerald is not working for me very well at the moment so I am stuck using V1.23 so no clever sunsets or sunrises.. in order to create a nice background I headed for a photosphere which is an excellent photographic tool.




My choice was a urban background to which I increased the ratio to 1 and also changed the hue to orange/rust to reflect the colour of the lingerie and being totally limited with regards to my environmental controls, all I did was to move the sun over a bit. You can see the difference in the two photos,obviously the second photo is much clearer with Suede highlighted against the background.

How dark is the night ?

I was a bit bored and started to play with the light settings, all of these flowers are no mod and set to full bright, which to be honest is a total pain,. however, if your turn your enviromental controls to midnight.. then a unsual photo opportunity presents itself.. you now have day-glow flowers in the middle of the night, just like the catus plant who only ever flowers at night, Queen of the Night. Although I have daisies and poppie it is working for me :D.

The only other adjustment I made was the light angle and also the Gamma which I turned up slightly so that Suede would be a bit brighter.

Fashion Couture

Series of phtos for the superELITE banner.



I needed to make a banner for the superELITE blog and I wanted to use a couture style photograph which meant I need an exceptional outfit and and unusual angle. As the blog is about fashion, the model was not important what was important was to emphasis the clothes.

Below is a series of raw shots I took for the banner which I then polished on photoshop. check out the superELITE blog for the finished Banner

Ce Cubic

I took this photo on the top floor of the Ce Cubic sim, wearing a a Ce Cubic sculpted prim shirt for the shoot. This is a excellent prop for static photographs but unfortunately when your avatar moves the prims end up in your body.

I used the windlight settings in Emerald as usual and here I thought the contrasting colour was a good choice. The buildings in this sim are actually white and I turned them to this lovely pink haze, but I did need to turn up the gamma slider as the skin colour on my avi went a bit sickly pink. The pose is by Diaz Papp, hair and skin by Laqroki, Earrings are by U&R Dogs.

Complimentary Colours

I like complimentary colours and so I often try to get the background to be in sync with the clothing of the avatar.
For the head shot, I used control + O to pull in it in tight to the face, I used the normal SL viewer and turned the enviro controls to dusk.. to give a golden hue to the skin.

The Pose is part of an ao I use from Pose Designer Diaz Papp on the Kuso sim. I always wait to see the angle of the ao and use my camera controls to get different views. The secret for me anyway is to watch the ao, and learn the good poses within it and then time your shot accordingly.

Tempura Island - Water Lillies

TEMPURA ISLAND


This a snapshot of the waterlilies at Tempura Island. I used the basic SL viewer to take these shots and used my camera controls to move my viewer to just above the water level. I spun around and changed position for quite a while as the flowers are on full bright which is really not attractive for photos.

Settings:
Environmental controls - Fine Day
Location - Tempura Island 18.207.21
Graphics Setting - middle

This second picture is exactly the same the only difference is the Graphics slider I turned all the way up to Ultra.
Personally I prefer the original shot, I feel the clouds distract from the flowers.

Okay, so I have finally got my act together and have something to talk about. I am going to give you a quick overview of the things you can do with the Emerald Viewer. In later blog posts I will go into depth about how to achieve a certain look.

1) Download Emerald if you haven't already done so.

2) Find somewhere in world that you liked I used the view from a nudist beach in Zindra.. I forgot this name.. but next time I will be sure to mark down the location for you. Now this view had a ugly island in the background which I wanted to remove from my picture. I used the draw button to reduce how far into the distance I could see.. the draw button is in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. on a little flip up menu.


3) I opened the windlight settings.. you can access this two ways.. one from the environmental controls. which gives you a huge range of options and choices and also from the little box, I just mentioned in section 2. Personally right now i would use the basic button on the right. We can discuss the environmental control magic sliders another time.



4) Most important.. turn your graphics settings up to Ultra.. yes it will slow you down.. but this is why I suggest you go somewhere quiet, no mall, no disco or club.. and as few people as possible.

So as you can see, all I did was change 3 things in my viewer, the draw distance, the windlight settings, and the graphics settings, and I also waited and watched the ebb and swell of the waves and clicked when the splash came, animations bring life to your picture, it is worth it to wait and learn the cycle of the animation so you can get the best angle. This is very important when creating a portrait.

Just a short note to introduce myself, I am an avatar in Second Life, I was the I also staff writer for the Zindra Times and then it's editor.. unfortunately that fun blog closed due to the rl commitments of its writing team.. but it was so much fun..laughs wickedly.

Currently I am the editor for the superElite fashion blog which is great.. we have a fantastic talented team and new clothes hair and skins..and accessories what is not to like.
.
In my personal blog, I will talk about what interests me most in Second Life, which is of course Photography, windlight setting, control +O and also Machinima which I am getting into.
Maybe with a little fashion and gossip thrown in. I mean I am a girl after all.. we gotta have our gossip and fashion.
